Staying in El Poblado, some questions

H everyone, been a lurker but finally making my way down to Medellín.

I booked at Hotel Dix since I saw that guests are allowed, has anyone been recently where this wasn't the case?

Also saw in recent reviews that Lleras Park is to be avoided.. is this still the case? I've read conflicting info where the majority are saying this is the place to be.

Will be traveling alone with minimal Spanish (yes I know I should have brushed up on it), hope it won't be an issue in Lleras.

Got some FB girls, apartments, and going to hit up one of the nicer clubs.

If anyone wants to grab a beer let me know! Will be in town from 01/30 to 02/02.

I was at Hotel Dix in early December so that is as Recent as I can tell you. You can reach out to them and ask ahead of time too. They do have one manager who spoke pretty good English. My Spanish is crap but good enough to not need a translator. I did hear him speaking with other guests very well in English.

He wasn't there when I checked out and the girls at the desk tried to say I had extra charges (I had booked with credit card points and it was totally covered). I had to take an extra 20 mins to let them know the extra charge was wrong. I'm pretty sure it was a hustle and they were trying to wear me down but I wasn't going to take it. Even for just a few bucks. It was the principle. I followed the rules and was not disruption. Anyhow, something you might want to pay attention to. Despite this, I don't really have any 'complaints' about my stay.

Honestly, I would definitely stay there again, outside of this minor inconvenience, everything else was great. For being Colombia, and getting the price I paid, it was still very worth it.

Hotel Dix does allow one girl per day if you book your room as double occupancy. After that there is an extra charge (70k-90k?) for girls beyond the 2nd, and they don't allow more than one at a time. My plan was to spread out the incalls so as to have one per day and then do outcalls for the rest.


As for Lleras, personally I stayed away. Too many warnings from local contacts. Both for safety as well as overpaying for mediocre girls. Just not worth the tradeoff. Gusto has the most 'working girls' from what I understand. Also it is right in Lleras so you will get some of those girls in there if that is the type of game you are trying to do.

I did get screwed over with Dix and them giving me the wrong room, will have to take it up with booking.com and CC company.

Sorry to hear about Dix. I'm sure you'll get some reimbursement especially if you documented things.
