I'm heading to Medellín for a hair transplant and decided to fly in a few days early to enjoy the city a bit. I arrive March 13th, so I'll have that weekend plus Monday to explore. Surgery is on the 17th, so I've got four full days to have some fun beforehand.


I'll be traveling alone and don't know anyone there, so I'm trying to plan ahead. I'll be staying at Haven.


Quick question about the nightlife scene — specifically strip clubs. I've seen La Isla mentioned a few times. Is that a good spot to go alone? Is it normal to show up alone there, or is it more of a group vibe? If you go by yourself, do you typically get a private booth/table, or just sit at the bar?


If not La Isla, what strip club would you recommend? I'm looking for a higher-end spot with top-tier girls — budget isn't really a concern. Just want the best overall experience and somewhere that's comfortable for someone going alone.


Also, since I've got four free days before surgery, what are your absolute must-do recommendations in Medellín? Open to anything — great restaurants, rooftop bars, tours, day trips, coffee experiences, cool neighborhoods, etc.

La Isla is fine to go alone. I hear Fase2 is still decent for talent too, but most prefer La Isla.

Just don't agree to buy a bottle at the door at either place. They might tell you at either place that they will waive cover if you get a bottle, but then when they bring the check, they might deny that they said that and try to make you pay the cover anyway on top of the bottle cost. That especially happens at Fase2.

Also, if they say you have to buy a bottle to come in, just leave. It is not worth it. Plenty of great/well-reviewed providers in this forum who will come to your room for less than the cost of a girl there. Don't get me wrong. La Isla/Fase2 have their place, but not to the point of being ripped off at the door for inflated liquor/cover.

• Food: If money isn't too much of a problem, check out El Cielo, Carmen, etc. You can probably find a lot of lists online. Run some names by us if you have any doubt.
• I went Paragliding and it was one of the coolest things I've ever done.
• Guatapé/Peñol/Coffee Farm (package) was great too.
• A tour of Comuna13 is cool at least once.
• Neighborhoods: A downtown tour with a guide is very popular. Also, Manila, Provenza, and Laureles (inbetween Primer and Segundo Parks) have a lot of cafes and cool lounges.

Just always read detailed reviews of the company. Make sure you are dealing with a legit operator.

Thank you for all the advice! Definitely going to check out those recommendations. Curious about the bottle and a booth. Don't really frequent strip clubs here but for regular clubs I don't think I've ever seen just 1 person buy a table. Is that common in Medellin?

No. For regular clubs, absolutely not. Colombians generally go out in groups. And it seems to me their average group size is bigger in Colombia than the average group size in the U.S. Especially at tables. They all chip in for a bottle in bigger groups.

So for a regular club, I think it would be weird. I personally think the wrong people might see me as a target. Plenty of scammers in normal clubs. Like, "Oh look. A guy, probably a tourist, with money. And he is all by himself. The perfect target."

I’ve often had a blast at Barra Ejecutiva or Playmates, both stripclubs downtown. Bottles are like COP $90 for a half and COP $140 for a full. Barra has tiny scummy rooms upstairs where you can take a girl. I think i paid COP $100 for 45 minutes but the location just sort of grossed me out. Good places to get some stripper phone numbers and meet up afterwards. Afterwards some of the girls from Barra go to this after hours called New York a block over. Not bad and safe but the bar charges COP $100 to take a girl out of there. Did that once when totally wasted but good times.
